About
The Hungarian Civil Protechtion Association is a voluntary organization active in the field of disaster and civil defense prevention and intervention.
The Association considers it a priority task in the implementation of measures for the protection of the affected population and material assets (Additional Protocols I-II of the Geneva Convention for the Protection of War Victims) falling under the scope of the International Conventions on the Protection of War Victims and Natural Disasters, but especially humanitarian participation in informing and preparing the population, educating the youth, creating and training voluntary organizations, providing spiritual care, distributing aid and supporting voluntary interventions. He exercises professional interest representation, this activity is part of the exercise of civil control, with regard to civil defense tasks.
It considers the provisions and aspirations of the Geneva Convention, the Basic Law of Hungary, and the Disaster Prevention Act as guidelines. It endorses the objectives of the EU's Community Civil Protection Mechanism and supports the pursuit of the Maastricht Principles, which reduce the state's financial burdens, unnecessary bureaucracy, and make public administration more democratic and flexible by increasing the involvement of civil society in public life and public activities. He considers the cooperation between governmental and non-governmental bodies and the increased role of the civilian side in NATO's common defense system to be important. In order to achieve these aspirations, it considers the theoretical and practical experiences of developed European countries to be followed, and uses their results. It promotes cooperation efforts of neighboring countries and the implementation of disaster assistance.
