About

FTS is involved in important national and international collaboration in various scientific and technological projects related to transportation. The FTS’s R&D&I has gradually specialized on intelligent transportation systems and their role in smart cities. The FTS focuses on enhancement of safety and security in transportation, furthermore on cost-saving measures in logistics and optimizing commuting habits of citizens. Other research topics aim at reducing traffic and emissions from transportation, reducing the carbon footprint generally, furthermore creating resilience of transport infrastructure to climate change or improving communication between authorities and citizens on urban transport issues.

Experts from the FTS perform research activities and provide analyses in following research fields: analysis of deformation processes of structural systems and materials in transportation; safety of transportation systems; safety of tunnel systems; electron microscopy; space technologies and geoinformation systems; aviation security; measurement methods in transportation; measurements and experiments in the field of dynamics, legislation and safety and reliability of vehicle construction; modelling functional structures of means of transportation and their infrastructure; tools for solving air traffic control problems; design and construction of vehicle simulators; reliability of human interaction with artificial systems; predictive diagnostics of aircraft jet engines, urban and long-distance transport systems; traffic management and modelling using simulation programs; telecommunications, telematics and intelligent transportation systems.
