The scientific-technical and technological works of the Institute of Structures, Special Systems and Engineering Maintenance of Georgian Technical University include the research and creation of the theory of expandable-foldable, transformable systems and concrete, space and ground systems, based on which the companies - "Комета", "Energia", "Daimler" Benz Aerospace, "GPI", "Alenia Spazio", "EOS Data Analytics" and the European Space Agency - European Space Agency "ESA" have created large space expandable structures with dimensions of 3, 12, 15, 20 and 30 meters. Three of these constructions went into space orbit, among which is the first Georgian space object. Patents have been issued for all designs, including two US and two European patents.
