Crops and grassland monitoring

Our unit has developped an expertise in monitoring crops and grasslands based on earth observation techniques. It includes multispectral/hyperspectral satellite / UAV data, SAR imagery but also in situ data collection.

Monitored vegetation traits are nitrogen status /LAI for winter wheat and potato as well as winter cover crops but also biomass for grasslands.

We have also developped an expertise in crop growth models as well as in agrometerology (we publish 3 times a year agrometeorological bulletins for Belgium).

Interactions with end-users are important for us, not only in the frame of data collection but also in the development of Decision support Systems that we co-design with farmers.
