Damien Rosillon

Head of a research team in agrometeorology at CRA-W - Walloon Agricultural Research Centre

Libramont, Belgium

About

CRA-W manages its own automatic weather stations (AWS) network for more than 25 years located in Wallonia (South of Belgium). It includes 32 AWS. Data are available in near real-time on an online platform (www.agromet.be). Weather stations are located in rural area, mainly in fields and few in forests.

Recorded parameters are : air humidity and temperature, rainfall, radiation, leafwetness, temperature 5cm above the ground, temperature 20 cm in the soil, wind speed (2 m), wind direction and ETP (computed). Upcoming : water content at 5, 10, 20 and 50 cm in the soil.

A focus is made on the quality of the data thanks to : high quality sensors, regular preventive maintenance, regular calibration of the sensors, intensive quality control (automatic + daily human check).

Data are available through API or manual graphical interface.
