About me

Marieke Franck obtained a Bachelor’s degree in accountancy and taxation in 2007 and a Master in Business Administration in 2009. Shortly afterwards, she was hired as a researcher (KU Leuven campus Brussels) on a project where she employed the Data Envelopment Analysis and the Benefit of the Doubt technique to detect dysfunctions in economic markets and sectors.

Shortly afterwards, she was offered the chance of doing a PhD in (environmental) economics, which she successfully defended in 2015 (KU Leuven). Her PhD dissertation focused on valuating multiple environmental externalities (using the hedonic price method & choice experiments) while taking into account their possible interaction effects.

Next, she started as a postdoctoral assistant at the UHasselt where she studied the environmental impact (Life Cycle Analysis) of different end-of-life scenario's._

Since 2017,  she started at Arteveldehogeschool Gent and for several years she has been doing research and writing  research proposals to stimulate the green transition. She is currently responsible for the research programme called Ecological and Inclusive Transition, which focusses on 3 research lines:

1/ Building Eco-systems for inclusive and ecological innovation (incl. system dynamics)

2/ Human Centered Design and Circular Business Models

3/ Behavioural and mindset change
