Dr. Dilem Hızlan (Erol), has completed her undergraduate studies at the Molecular Biology and Genetics department of Boğaziçi University, Turkey. Afterwards, she joined European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg in order to study Structural Biology and obtained her PhD as a joint degree from EMBL and University of Heidelberg in 2006. Following PhD, she continued her studies on structural biology as postdoc at the Max Planck Institute of Biophysics in Frankfurt am Main.
Since 2011, Dr. Hızlan has been involved in project development and management activities for national and international grants. At Sabancı University, she took part in the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) Project, working as a member of the Healthcare Sector group, providing consultancy and advisory services on EU Grants, establishing international collaborations and organizing info days and brokerage events. Moreover, she served as a member of EU Programmes’ Working Group of ARGEMIP (R&D Centers Communication and Cooperation Platform) where she took part in awareness raising activities for EU programmes for the members of the platform.
In parallel to her duties at Sabancı University, she served as a Steering Committee Member of TÜBİTAK- TEYDEB- Biotechnology, Agriculture, Environment and Food Technologies Group (BIYOTEG) between May 2020-2023.
In 2022, she established Galata Innovation which is a consultancy company focused on business development activities for European Union R&D grants.
