About me

Dr. Şenol Pişkin is a prominent academic and researcher at Istinye University in Istanbul, Turkey, with a rich background in Mechanical and Computational Science and Engineering. He earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc. from Istanbul Technical University and completed his Ph.D. with a focus on developing three-dimensional blood–artery wall interaction models for human carotid arteries. His doctoral work laid the foundation for a career dedicated to patient-specific cardiovascular modeling and simulation.

Following his Ph.D., Dr. Pişkin expanded his expertise internationally. He served as a Research Associate at the University of Texas, San Antonio, where he honed his skills in clinical image segmentation, computational fluid dynamics, and high-performance computing applied to cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases. These experiences deepened his commitment to integrating engineering techniques with clinical applications to improve diagnostics and therapeutic strategies.

Dr. Pişkin has held several key academic roles, including serving as the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Istinye University and earning a prestigious Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship. In these leadership positions, he has successfully steered interdisciplinary projects that merge computational simulation, extended reality applications, and digital health technologies. His work aims to translate cutting-edge research into innovative, patient-centered solutions that bridge the gap between engineering and medicine.

Beyond academia, Dr. Pişkin co-founded Hemodyn, LLC—a healthcare IT startup focused on developing advanced digital tools for surgical planning and diagnostics. His entrepreneurial endeavors complement his academic research, reflecting a deep commitment to pushing the boundaries of digital health and translational research.

A prolific author, Dr. Pişkin has contributed extensively to the scientific community through numerous peer-reviewed journal articles, conference papers, and technical reports. His research has been showcased at international forums, earning him multiple awards and recognitions. His innovative work in cardiovascular hemodynamics and patient-specific simulation continues to influence both clinical practice and the evolution of digital health technologies.
