My organisation

Philea nurtures a diverse and inclusive ecosystem of foundations, philanthropic organisations and networks working for the common good in Europe. With individual philanthropies and national-level infrastructure organisations in over 30 countries as members, we unite over 7500 public-benefit foundations that seek to improve life for people and communities in Europe and around the world. About me

Dr. Hanna Stähle is a visionary and experienced leader in the European philanthropy sector, with a PhD in Slavic Cultural Studies. As the Head of Foresight and Innovation at Philea, she spearheads strategy and roadmap design for tracking long-term trends and developments, anticipating challenges and opportunities, and fostering innovation in the field. She is also charged with strategically developing PEX, which unites over 350 philanthropy infrastructure practitioners across Europe and globally, and facilitates peer exchange, learning, and experimentation for common good. She is leading the Anticipate Cluster at Philea.

Hanna has over 10 years of experience in public affairs, strategic partnerships, communications, strategy development, research and member engagement at various philanthropic organisations and networks. Previously, she led these functions at Donors and Foundations Networks in Europe (Dafne), which is now part of Philea. She also served as an Aide to the Secretary General of the German Association of Foundations, where she managed international and strategic programmes. Earlier, she was with the Robert Bosch Stiftung, where she oversaw a grantmaking portfolio for civil society, media and journalism programmes in Europe. Hanna is passionate about advancing the role and impact of philanthropy in addressing the most pressing issues of our time, such as democracy, climate change and inequality through foresight, futures thinking and the power of convening and collaboration in ecosystems.
