About me

I (Dr. Vamsi Krishna Rentala) am current working at Applied Validation of NDT (AV-NDT), Berlin, Germany since January 2021. I obtained my Ph.D. degree in Materials Engineering from University of Hyderabad, India in 2020. During my Ph.D., I had worked on establishing damage tolerance lifing procedures to aero-engines within a project at DMRL-DRDO Hyderabad in India. While working with AV-NDT, I am actively involved in developing new NDT reliability standard in DIN (Deutsches Institut für Normung standards) with in normPOD project funded by WIPANO in Germany. Since May 2022, I am working for developing SHM POD methodologies for better condition monitoring of aged civil engineering infrastructure such as bridges in Germany within the DTEC project. Also actively involved in the reliability studies of NDE 4.0 technologies and human factors. Me along with Dr. Daniel Kanzler has co-authored a book chapter on “Reliability evaluation of testing systems and their connection to NDE 4.0” in the Handbook of Non-destructive Evaluation 4.0, by Journal of Non-destructive Evaluation in 2021. I am a member of Specialist International Group (SIG) for NDT reliability and also a member of Action area 1.3 NDE 4.0 Reliability under ICNDT working group 3 (Education and Research). Also acting as the Editorial Advisory Board Member for e-Journal of Nondestructive Testing by ndt.net. My major expertise lies in reliability estimation of NDT as well as SHM technologies in various industrial sectors using POD procedures. Till now I have around 40+ publications in various international journals, conferences and book chapters.
