Hochschule Niederrhein: A Legacy of Innovation and Excellence
Founded on August 1, 1971, Hochschule Niederrhein has grown into a leading University of Applied Sciences in the Lower Rhine region, evolving from 13 predecessor institutions into a hub of academic and professional development. Initially established with 3,660 students, it now accommodates over 14,200 students across ten faculties in Krefeld and Mönchengladbach, offering a diverse range of 90 Bachelor's and Master's programs.
However, the university’s legacy dates back even further to 1855, when the Crefeld Higher Weaving School was founded to support the city’s thriving silk industry. This deep-rooted tradition of application-oriented education and research continues to shape its strong ties with industry, making collaboration with businesses an integral part of its identity.
With a 50-year tradition of pioneering education, research, and innovation, Hochschule Niederrhein remains a trailblazer in fostering talent, bridging academia and industry, and opening new pathways for the future.
