About

Sacco Vignaioli Apuli is the name we have chosen to identify who we are.

We are, thus, winegrowers closely linked to our land of origin; we are passionate winemakers who love their job, which is also a matter of heritage handed down from generations.

Sacco Vignaioli Apuli, in fact, is a family owned company; we are located in the town of Torremaggiore, in the far north east of the Apulia region, in the southeast of Italy.

We are in the Daunia area, at the foot of the Gargano Mountains, in a hilly area, on calacareo-clay soils naturally and historically suited to the cultivation of grapes and olives.

This area is continuously embraced by gentle winds that come from the Adriatic Sea cost (which is about 25km from us) and brightened by a warm light, that gives vitality and character to our grapes and wines.

We are an organic farm, constantly evolving, of about 25Ha of vineyards and olive groves, created about 20 years ago by one man: Vincenzo Sacco, and thanks to his dream to give a “wine identity” to his land, the so-called “Daunia”, not properly enhanced yet in wine sector.

His dream was and it is to create and to offer the best of the wine excellence from his land, worldwide.

To grow, he understood that he needed skills, so in the 90s, he decided to invest in the education of his sons Matteo and Alessandro, who (at that time) were 14 and 3 years old.

The first studied oenology at the San Michele all’ Adige Agricultural Institute, in the Trentino region, one of the best Italian agricultural and oenologist institutes, and then he specialised with work experience in some of the best Italian cellars in the Tuscany, Trentino and Apulia regions.

The latter, instead, when he grew up, he started studying Economy and Management and then he gained some work experience abroad, in particular in the USA, in Buffalo.

So, it took a dream, time, a strong motivation and determination to make everything real.

After about 10 years of hard work, the first bottle was produced.

In 2015, with the arrival of the sons, the new cellar was built and opened and it was created to reflect the new company image and idea.

The logo: three gear wheels, of different sizes, to symbolize the three generations of Vincenzo, Matteo and Alessandro Sacco, which fit precisely to run the company.

Today, Matteo and Alessandro, after years of experience on the field, using modern and innovative technologies, produce wines and organic extra virgin olive oil, fully respecting nature, aware that a bio-sustainable agriculture, promoting a healthy diet and a respectful life for the environment, can stimulate a real return to the deepest origins of man.

The grapes cultivated are Bombino Bianco, Malvasia di Candia, Nero di Troia, Falanghina, Primitivo.

Our main values and philosophy:

- Trust, Quality and Tradition;

- A deep respect for the land and the raw material (we chose an organic agriculture from the beginning of our story , as well as hard work in the vineyards all year round, not using any chemicals);

- Minimum intervention in wine making (indigenous yeasts, spontaneous fermentations, little decanting, the right time for everything).

- The care taken in the production process (for example avoid wasting water. The water we use is extracted from the filtering of an aquifer and the residual waters, which, in turn, are used to irrigate the surrounding cultivation).

MISSION

With boundless enthusiasm and unshakable passion, Matteo and Alessandro continue to go beyond the dream inherited from the tenacity of adventure of their father Vincenzo.

Their visionary aim, to create organic and sustainable wines with a deep sense of the territory, has become an integral part of the winery's philosophy and, in every new chapter of its history, Sacco winery wants to show all the potential of the northern Apulia region, creating unique, authentic organic wines and extra-virgin olive oils .
