Trotting around Trasimeno lake. 7 days

1st day. Arriving in the afternoon at the facilities and welcome dinner.

2nd day. Move to Castel Rigone and delivery of horses or eventually seat assignement in the carriage. It’s said that Castel Rigone was funded by the barbarian “Riggo”, lieutenant of the ostrogothic king Totila, during the invasion of 543 a.C.; the place will be then fortified in 1297, period in which rose the present village of Castel Rigone. From its height of 700mt, the small village domintes the Trasimeno Lake offering amazing views. Riding through small alleys and white streets you can cross the hills peaks that are the frame of the lake and of its three islands (Maggiore, Minore and Polvese) until you can reach the top of the hill to stop for the lunch.

The excursion goes on with the descent to the valley riding through the cycle path of the Trasimeno Park until you reach Tuoro sul Trasimeno, where the horses will be housed and the riders will rest until dinner.

3rd day. After a tasty breakfast, again on the saddle (or on the carriage)! Thanks to the comfortable cycle path of Trasimeno – a big ring around the lake – from Tuoro it’s possible to reach Borghetto and then Ferretto. Going slowly will allow you to reconsider the concepts of time, space and place: a different way to appreciate silence and fully enjoy the generous beauty. Near Ferretto, a short stop for a tasting of typical products together with good wine of a local farm. Through flat or slightly hilly trails in the countryside and little piece of paved streets, we will arrive to the little village of Pozzuolo in the agritourism where will be hosted both horses and riders. Visit of the historical Palazzo Moretti with dinner inside of it.

4th day. Starting from Pozzuolo, with the countryside and the vineyards in the background, the horse ride of today will lead us in the small village of Macchie, just in time for having lunch in a winery. But, do you know where the wine tasted is come from? Of course, from the beautiful vineyards, which you’ll pass through in the afternoon for reaching the other agritourism in the neighbourhood of Panicale, where horses and riders will stop for the night after a delicious candle – lit dinner and a privat concert.

5th day. Left the agritourism, again up to the hills through tracks surrounded by woods of centuries-old oaks: this is the landscape of the today’s excursion. Prepare your eyes to see marvelous things: overhead views, Nestore river’s valley, Trasimeno Lake and even the basin of artificial lake of Pietrafitta will be even more charming and will be possible to meet some of the uncommon species of birds which live or stop there, in the humide areas of the place, during the migrations. After lunch, the climb goes on until the peak of Mount Penna, from which you could have a wonderful view of Trasimeno and of all the roads walked through, and even

of Perugia, Mount Subasio, Mount Tezio and Mount Acuto. Dinner and overnight will be in the agritourism, where also the horses will be hosted.

6th day. After having seen all the splendour of Trasimeno Lake from the hills, the today’s walk will lead you to the edges of the lake itself, with the opportunity to enter in the water on horseback! A lake fish lunch will offer you the possibility of knowing a new aspect of the local food for an happy time before leaving.
