About
We work in: • Wastewater and sludge treatments: • Emerging pollutants - e.g. antibiotics resistant bacteria&genes removal. • Nutrient's recovery from sludge. • Water reuse - e.g. advance oxidation processes. • Urban Circular bioeconomy: obtention of high added value products from urban biowaste. • Integral valorisation of lignocellulosic biomass to obtain building blocks (e.g lactic acid) - Biorefinery approach. • Bioenergy from biomass by anaerobic digestion, pyrolysis and dark fermentation. • Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment (study of the environmental/social/cost impacts, including those for emerging organics throught USETox). Carbon and water footprint. • Development of sustainability plans for municipalities (e.g Circular Economy strategy, climate mitigation and adaptation strategies, Covenant of mayors, ...).
