BIOENCAPSULATION AND iPACKAGING, S.L. is a technology-based company -spin-off of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT), launched in 2017 (with the participation of professors and two private companies) to put on the market certain technologies developed and patented within the Research Group directed by Prof. Dr. Ing. Antonio López Gómez, professor at the UPCT, through R&D projects. Since its launch, it has actively participated in different R&D projects focused on the nanoencapsulation and microencapsulation of bioactive substances, such as essential oils and microorganisms, for the development of new products, and new active food processing and packaging technologies. And it also manufactures and markets these bioactive substances and their encapsulations. Several active packaging products resulting from these technologies are already on the market, active packaging systems for fresh fruits and vegetables from the Newfresh and Fresher brands.
