About

The main goal is an innovative e-bike concept designed to transform urban mobility by integrating a wide array of smart sensors that enhance user experience, safety, maintenance efficiency, and environmental awareness. A standout feature is the use of thermochromic coatings that change color based on the bike’s status: green indicates it's ready to use, red shows a depleted battery, and other colors signal the need for maintenance. This allows users and fleet operators to quickly assess usability from a distance, without needing to inspect each bike individually. To promote hygiene and improve shared usage, the bike integrates sweat and humidity sensors to monitor contact areas like the handlebars and seat. Additionally, the innovative bike continuously collects environmental data through onboard air quality sensors, contributing to pollution mapping and smart city initiatives. Structurally, the bike features embedded strain and vibration sensors that monitor the frame’s condition over time, providing real-time alerts for potential mechanical failures. Brake pads and tires also include integrated wear sensors to provide predictive maintenance warnings before safety is compromised. For secure and personalized access, the e-bike supports NFC and RFID unlocking, enabling seamless user interaction and tracking. Capacitive touch controls are embedded into the frame, offering intuitive management of features like lights and indicators. To enhance the user experience, the platform supports customizable visual elements such as LED or e-ink displays for personal branding, public messaging, or location-based advertising. By combining practical usability with cutting-edge sensor technology, this project represents a significant leap toward smarter, safer, and more sustainable urban cycling.
