About
Our research group is mainly concerned with the composition and processing of biowaste using vermicomposting and anaerobic digestion. Furthermore, testing the effect of organic fertilizers on soil and plants.
Here is a brief overview of our equipment and analytical capabilities for the research projects:
- Grow room – possibility of year-round cultivation in soil and in 2 different types of hydroponics; regulation of light, temperature and humidity conditions, setting of CO2 content in the air
- Vegetation hall with sliding roof for outdoor container vegetation experiments
- Aerobic composters with regulation of aeration intensity and time, temperature measurement with recording to the control panel
- Vermicomposting laboratory with temperature adjustment, air supply and exhaust, temperature and gas measurement
- Laboratory equipment for preparing aqueous extracts from vermi/compost with regulation of mixing and aeration
-fields for large-scale experiments
etc.
Determination of agrochemical and biological parameters of soil and fertilizers: - pH - EC - Combustible substances - CHNS - 15 basic macroelements and risk elements, including their accessible proportion - Enzymatic activity - Organic pollutants (polyaromatic hydrocarbons,…) - Micropollutants from the group of drugs, hormonal disruptors,… - Microorganisms by PLFA method - determination of substrate osmotic potential - content of phytohormonal substances (auxins) - content of energy stored in the combustible portion of the sample and determination of ash content - etc.
- Determination of physiological parameters of plants: - gasometric determination of gas exchange (transpiration rate, CO2 fixation intensity, stomatal conductance, CO2 content in the mesophyll of cells, leaf temperature) - determination of quantum yield SPII - relative chlorophyll content - water potential of plants - free proline and content of photosynthetically active pigments (chlorophyll a, b and carotenoids) - stereomicroscopy - etc.
