Martina Mayer

Martina Mayer is a seasoned translator and educator with a degree in Translation Studies. As a senior lecturer at the University of Innsbruck's Department of Translation Studies in Austria (a member of the EMT network), she leverages her extensive freelance experience to teach specialised and literary translation in the French-German language pair. Additionally, she offers classes in cultural studies, gender studies, and translation management, as well as coaching sessions for students. 

Since 2018, Martina has held a visiting professorship at the University of Poitiers, where she delivers introductory lectures on translation studies and a specialised course on service provision competence for aspiring language industry professionals. Her research focuses on translation didactics aimed at fostering the professionalisation of young translators, on translation history, literary translation, and translation-related cultural studies. 

Martina is passionate about empowering the next generation of translators and regularly addresses international audiences on topics related to employability and market success.
