Multidisciplinary Approaches towards Hydrogen Storage Demonstrator in Saline Formations
About
We are seeking partners for a cutting-edge project focused on Hydrogen Underground Storage (UHS) in Porous Media, with the aim of addressing key scientific challenges through a multidisciplinary approach. As hydrogen is set to play a critical role in the global energy transition, developing safe and efficient storage solutions is essential. This project will investigate the geomechanics, fluid dynamics, and chemical interactions involved in storing hydrogen in underground porous formations.
Our multidisciplinary research includes geological investigations, numerical simulations on various scales, and laboratory experiments to assess the feasibility of UHS in porous media. In particular, we are working toward developing an in-situ lab/pilot project to advance our research. Multiple aspects are being studied through diverse methodologies, such as static and dynamic reservoir modelling, fluid-rock-microbial interactions, and the geochemical and petrophysical changes that occur in rocks during UHS operations.
