Transforming Public Buildings into Energy-Efficient Prosumers: A Collaborative Initiative by Jonava Municipality
About
In line with our commitment to sustainable development, Jonava Municipality is focused on renovating aging public buildings, including schools and municipal offices, by incorporating advanced energy-efficient technologies and renewable energy systems. Our goal is to transform these buildings into energy-positive, eco-friendly spaces that benefit both the local community and the wider energy grid. This focus on public sector buildings aligns with the TRI 7 Mission, which aims to make both new and existing buildings active participants in the energy system, capable of producing, storing, and using energy efficiently.
As a municipality, we bring significant value to the consortium by offering the following:
-
Streamlined Regulatory Approvals: We can assist partners in navigating the regulatory framework, expediting approval processes for retrofitting projects. This ensures that renovations incorporating advanced technologies like solar panels, heat pumps, and energy-efficient insulation are carried out smoothly and without bureaucratic delays.
-
Demonstration Sites: Our public buildings serve as ideal demonstration sites for piloting innovative solutions. These buildings can showcase the benefits of energy-efficient technologies, renewable energy systems, and digitalized management to other communities, providing real-world examples of how public and non-residential buildings can become active elements in the energy system.
By participating in TRI 7, we aim to collaborate with partners across the energy, construction, and technology sectors, supporting the mission to turn buildings into prosumers—producers and consumers of energy. Together, we can develop and implement the solutions needed to increase renovation rates, integrate renewable energies, and make both residential and non-residential buildings more efficient and sustainable.
We invite you to partner with us, share expertise, and help us accelerate the renovation and digitalization of public infrastructure, making Jonava a model for green transformation.
