My organisation
CiQUS, established in 2011, aimed at generating groundbreaking science at the intersection of Chemistry, Biology & Materials Science. It comprises 18 research groups and over 200 people, which were awarded 14 ERC projects (4 ERC-PoC), 19 MSCA-PF, 3 MSCA-DN, 2 MSCA-SE, and also created 4 spin-outs.
Projects: see www.usc.es/ciqus/en/research/projects
In the 2022-2023 period, CiQUS attracted over €8 million/year in competitive R&D funding, applied for 21 patents, and published over 34% of its research in high-impact journals (JCR-IF >9).
Health & Biomedicine. • Drug & nuclei acid delivery (non-immunogenic peptide carriers, MOFs, dendrimers...), theragnostic and cell reprogramming • Synthetic probes to act selectively on biological receptors • New biological sensors for early diagnosis strategies.
Sustainability. • Valorization of feedstocks (CO2, methane) • Energy production & storage: catalysts, electrodes, electrolytes • Nanoelectronics (nanographenes, single molecule electronics), bioelectronics & spintronics.
