The event will also host an exciting array of exhibitors from around Europe who will showcase the blue economy’s innovation and investment potential.

ART EXHIBITION
During EMD 2024, participants will have the opportunity to enjoy an outdoor exhibition of photos, displayed on the rooftop of SIMAC
"Outdoor exhibition by Christian Clauwers, focussing on the relation and conflicts between people and nature, on the impact of climate change and biodiversity decline and on the importance of marine sciences to understand our oceans"
Christian has witnessed climate change on the frontline for more than ten years and documented its impact on the most unique and fragile ecosystems. His starting point is the vulnerable relationship and conflicts between man and nature. He bridges science and policy with the power of these images.
Christian sailed the five oceans and joined various international scientific teams. With images and storytelling he promotes science and shows the beauty and vulnerability of ecosystems that are at stake. He works together with governments, scientific institutions and companies, to increase awareness and to promote the necessary action. His work is kept in the Arctic World Archive on Svalbard. He is a Fellow of The Explorers Club and an EU Climate Pact Ambassador.
This photo exhibition shows you the vulnerability of the polar regions, the social impact on Pacific island communities and the preservation of crop seeds biodiversity in the Svalbard Global Seed Vault.
**Christian will also present a pitch on “**Using Image to bridge the gap between science, education and policy” (Day 1 at 15:00).
