About me

Christoph Gabriel David is a German coastal scientist and engineer whose career bridges advanced numerical modeling, remote sensing, and climate data assessment with a strong commitment to inter- and transdisciplinary research. He has developed expertise in simulating and analyzing complex coastal processes, particularly through the use of state-of-the-art numerical models. His technical proficiency extends to high-performance computing, Python, Matlab, and geospatial analysis, enabling robust assessments of climate risks and adaptation strategies.

David’s research is distinguished by its integration of natural and social sciences, often realized through living labs and collaborative projects that bring together academics from different disciplines together with governmental, and community stakeholders. He has joined research initiatives, including the development of nature-based solutions (NbS) for coastal climate change adaptation. His work on NbS is informed by natural science, engineering and societal perspectives, recognizing the importance of stakeholder engagement and the co-creation of knowledge for effective climate adaptation.

As a lecturer and supervisor, David educates the next generation of coastal engineers and scientists, emphasizing the value of interdisciplinary thinking and practical, real-world applications. His leadership in living labs and international collaborations underscores his commitment to advancing sustainable, adaptive solutions for vulnerable coastal regions.
