The series of the three Fast-forward Plant-based Food Symposia

The four platforms have joined forces to organize a series of three symposia over three years and launch supporting activities aiming at breaking down silos and overcoming barriers for exploiting synergies and accelerating innovation towards a sustainable, healthy and fair agri-food system.

Symposium I was held in spring 2024 and focused on raising awareness, matchmaking and identifying knowledge gaps and research needs. Symposium II will take place on 27 May 2025 at the Black Diamond in Copenhagen and will focus on public-private partnerships. Symposium III will be hosted in 2026 and focus on impact investment.

Highlights from Symposium I (2024)

The first symposium successfully identified key knowledge gaps, research needs, and challenges within the plant-based food value chain. Through a comprehensive program of workshops, talks, and panel debates, it fostered collaboration among diverse stakeholders, including researchers, industry experts, and entrepreneurs. The event laid the groundwork for future workstreams and highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts to drive innovation and development towards a sustainable agri-food system.

Symposium III (2026)

In addition to following up on activities of symposia I and II, symposia III will facilitate a brokerage event for matching impact investors, charitable foundations, and crowdfunding platforms with plant- based spin-offs, spinouts, and start-ups that will be given the opportunity to pitch their innovation and business case. The workshop sessions and debates will be adopted to the brokerage and investment theme of symposia III.
