Verona, Italy

The Chamber of Commerce of Verona is glad to host this year's edition of the Great Wine Capitals Annual Conference, the meeting of the twelve international wine capitals, from 20th to 24th October 2024.

B2B session: 23rd October 2024

What is the Great Wine Capitals Annual Conference?

The Great Wine Capitals Annual Conference is an absolutely unique 5-day program focussing on wine tourism. Members of the Great Wine Capitals Global Network gather with their local steering committees, as well as business and travel delegates.

Why should you attend?

The Great Wine Capitals Annual Conference in Verona is a once-in-a-decade opportunity. In particular, you might benefit from:

  • Significant networking opportunities with industry representatives from the other 11 Great Wine Capitals, including a B2B meeting session on 23rd October;

  • The chance to immerse yourself in the best of what Verona's rich wine tourism landscape has to offer, and a great opportunity to do benchmarking and connect with local colleagues as well as wine and olive oil producers;

  • Enogastronomic experiences to get to know Italian and Veronese cuisine up close.

We expect more than 100 international delegates from the other 11 Great Wine Capitals and their regions: Mendoza (Argentina), Adelaide (Australia), Bordeaux (France), Valparaìso/Casablanca Valley (Chile), Mainz/Rheinhessen (Germany), Hawke’s Bay (New Zealand), Porto (Portugal), Bilbao/Rioja (Spain), Lausanne (Switzerland), Cape Town (South Africa), and San Francisco/Napa Valley (USA).

The Conference is attended by delegates from each of the Great Wine Capitals and their regions. These representatives come from a variety of organizations that participate in a series of working groups during the event to collaborate on common projects that advance the objectives of the Network and its members. These delegates include:

  • Senior administrative or political representatives from state or national government, or local municipalities

  • Senior representatives of wine industry associations

  • Directors of Chambers of Commerce and other equivalent economic development bodies

  • Researchers and educators from universities and educational institutes

  • Directors of city and/or regional destination marketing associations

  • Tourism and travel organizations

In addition, each Network member will send a business delegation comprising:

  • Winemakers and viticulturists

  • Wine business owners

  • Marketing, tourism, and other staff related to the wine, tourism, and hospitality industries

  • Winners of local Best of Wine Tourism awards, vying for an international award (which will be presented at the Gala Dinner at the conclusion of the AGM program).

Last but not least, the winning companies of the Best Of Wine Tourism awards will be announced at the presence of all participants and press representatives.
