Creating sustainable and supportive ecosystems for innovators is both my personal and professional passion. Currently, I lead the innovation strategy process in northern Barcelona, particularly, in Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital, one of the mayor Catalan hospitals providing high technology and complex healthcare to over 1.200.000 patients, where my task is to identify, nurture and grow innovative projects and initiatives arising from our healthcare professionals and activities, as well as to help entrepreneurs and innovators in the ecosystem access the healthcare system and implement their solutions. I am also a co-founder and Principal Investigator in the Research Group on Innovation, Health Economics and Digital Transformation in our institution. In this scope, I am an active researcher in the fields of healthcare innovation methodologies and new academic approaches to its implementation.
I am well connected and familiarised with both the UK and Spain innovation landscapes. I have extensive experience in strategic leadership, innovation, research and project management, communication, start-ups and STEM ecosystem development, and serve as a Non-Executive Director at Global Innovation Forum, where I co-founded the Manchester branch and led the global marketing, communication and operations strategies for a number of years. I am a seasoned mentor, and participate in numerous acceleration programmes supporting entrepreneurs and innovators accross the globe. I also regularly participate as an expert in the review and evaluation of numerous competitive funding calls, support start-ups as a freelance innovation consultant, and collaborate as an adjunct lecturer at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, where I lecture “Change Management and Leadership Strategies” and provide supervision to numerous master thesis.
Interested in new technologies and in entrepreneurship through leadership and innovation, I have many years of experience working and leading international teams, overseeing and supporting more than 40 different projects in 10 different countries, which has led me to play a key role in the strategic development, innovation and talent management in a number of companies and countries. I hold a PhD from Manchester, and I have an extensive list of peer-reviewed scientific publications from my time as an academic there, where I worked as a postdoc in cardiovascular research, platelet and endothelial function in the context of inflammation, and became a Fellow of the High Education Academy.
