About

Yakar specializes in Islamic law and legal anthropology. She received her Ph.D. from Exeter University in 2019 and currently works at the University of Iğdır in Turkey. Her studies focus on the relationship between theory and practice in Islamic legal systems, especially in contemporary Saudi Arabia and Iran. She is also interested in religious practices, sectarian differences, various interpretation of Islamic texts and influence of religion on politics in the Middle East region. She is also interested with the religous understanding of Muslim minorities who are living in non-Muslim Wester countries.
