About
University of Sheffield Rail Innovation and Technology Centre has significant expertise in performance modelling and testing of steel subject to high contact loading (rolling contact fatigue, wear) characteristic of the rail-wheel contact environment. Steels produced with diverse input materials may suffer degraded performance relative to conventional iron ore steel production. We are interested to quantify their behaviour and better understand the range of tolerable inputs that do not compromise performance or safety.
