Long-term Europe – Africa WEF Nexus (LEAWEF) Multilateral Research Programme Matchmaking

The LEAWEF (Long Term Europe Africa WEF Nexus Research Programme) is a multilateral research collaborative focused on sustainable development through integrated research on the Water-Energy-Food (WEF) nexus between Europe and Africa.

The research programme aims to focus on:

• Developing and connecting knowledge to increase the societal impact of research.

• Exploring new development paths.

• Finding ways to accelerate transitions to sustainable development.

To best facilitate matchmaking, a matchmaking platform has been set up alongside an online meeting. After registration, you will have access to this platform, which will give you various options to seek expertise and form new collaborations with parties from various sectors. See the tab 'Matchmaking - How does it work' for explanations and options.

With this platform, we hope to contribute to the creation of new networks, which do not only add value to this multilateral research programme, but also to other future initiatives or research programmes. The platform will exist at least until the deadline for submission of a full research proposal (14 July 2025).

During an online meeting, on November 7th 2024, we hope to bring together researchers, practitioners and civil society organisations. The aim of the matchmaking is to encourage consortium formation by connecting parties. The call for proposals aims to develop broad consortia in which researchers and civil society parties work intensively together.

The online information webinar on October 7th, 2024 and the matchmaking meeting on 7 November 2024 offers a varied and interactive programme to exchange ideas for projects and make new contacts.

An online information webinar will be organised on October 7th, 2024. During this meeting we will provide more information on the conditions of the call, national eligibility requirements, the application procedure. Online matchmaking meeting

On 7 November 2024 LEAWEF partners organise a matchmaking meeting for prospective applicants and interested actors of the call . The matchmaking is aimed at researchers, from the entire knowledge chain and various disciplines, private and public partners and other interested parties.

Registered initiatives from those who have submitted a partnership request form, will be invited to present their idea or initiative during the matchmaking. You are invited to submit a partnership request form here on the website of NWO.

Please note: Your registration for the matchmaking meeting does not mean that you have submitted a Partnership request form. The deadline for the submission of Partnership request forms (not mandatory), which are to be submitted to NWO, is 4 November 2024, at 14:00:00 hours CET. Partnership request form submission is via the LEAWEF call page on the NWO website.
