About
I am a dedicated researcher and educator with a focus on environmental sciences. Holding a PhD in Physical Geography from Ghent University, as well as a master’s and bachelor’s in Forestry, I specialize in hydrological modeling, land use and ecosystem dynamics, and climate adaptation. Currently, I am a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Amsterdam, with previous research experience at the Flanders Research Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food (ILVO) and over a decade as an Assistant Professor at Mekelle University. My research spans hydrology, land management, and climate resilience, supported by technical skills in GIS, remote sensing, and statistical tools like R and Python. Recently trained in software development in Belgium, I bring a multidisciplinary approach and maintain a robust international network. Known for my collaborative leadership, I am passionate about knowledge-sharing, mentoring, and advancing sustainable practices. Outside work, I enjoy cycling, hiking, and plant cultivation, which reflect my commitment to environmental stewardship.
