Ambo University (in Amharic: አምቦ ዩኒቨርሲቲ; in Oromo: Yunivarsiitii Amboo) is a national institution of higher learning located in Ambo, within the Oromia Region of Ethiopia. It lies around 114 kilometers (71 miles) to the west of Addis Ababa. The Ministry of Education selects eligible students for admission to Ambo University based on their results from the Ethiopian Higher Education Entrance Examination (EHEEE). The university was founded on May 11, 2011, following a proclamation by the government (Council of Ministers 212/2011).
