First, CO2 capture and conversion (either from concentrated steams, such as biogenic or flue gas, and diluted steams, such as atmospheric samples) to fuels:

o          Development of CO2-selective capture systems based in polymeric membranes or capsules, multifunctional ionic liquids, and combinations of them.

o          Development of innovative catalysts (either, nanocatalyst, organometallic catalyst, and combination of them) and setting-up continuous flow catalytic processes for the CO2 transformation to added-value liquid (i.e., methanol, and Fischer-Tropsch products) and gaseous (biomethane, carbon monoxide and syngas) biofuels by thermochemical and electrochemical, or a combination of them.

o          Scaling up technologies from TRL3 and unique reactors (high temperature and pressure continuous flow thermochemical reactor, and modular 3D-printed electrochemical reactor) and infrastructure (reaction monitored by coupling reactors to chromatographic systems) for scaling up these processes from TRL3 to TRL4/TRL5/TRL6.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE: H2020 SUNCOCHEM and H2020 BIZEOLCAT.

Second, laboratory validation of the application of hydrogen resulting from the fuel reforming (i.e., hydrogen generated by reforming of the biofuel) in commercial fuel cell systems using our developed fuel cell testing rig (up to 2.0 kW) able to measure power efficiency, voltage efficiency and fuel efficiency.
