Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) https://www.csic.es/en The mission of the Spanish National Research Council is to promote, coordinate, develop and disseminate scientific and technological multidisciplinary research, in order to contribute to the progress of knowledge and economic, social and cultural development; as well as to train researchers and provide advice to public and private entities in these fields The Spanish National Research Council is the main agent responsible for implementing the Spanish System for Science, Technology and Innovation; and in order to undertake this mission, it is capacitated to carry out activities aimed at: The generation of knowledge through scientific and technical research, The transfer of research results, in particular to promote and create technology-based enterprises, The provision of expert advice to public and private institutions, The delivery of highly-qualified pre-doctoral and post-doctoral training, The promotion of scientific culture in society, The management of large facilities and unique scientific and technical infrastructures, The presence and representation in international bodies, The development of targeted research The Estación Experimental del Zaidín (EEZ) is a research Centre of the Spanish Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) Agency. https://www.eez.csic.es/en/presentation The activity of the EEZ is mainly focused in the field of Agricultural Sciences and is organized in four departments: Biochemistry and Molecular and Cellular Biology of Plants, Soil Microbiology and Symbiotic Systems, Environmental Protection, Phisiology and Biochemistry of the Animal Nutrition (Animal Nutrition Seat) Scientific objectives The main objective of the EEZ is to carry out cutting-edge research in Biology (Plant and Animal Biology and Microbiology) and to promote the development of environmental applications as well as for sustainable agriculture and livestock production. Knowledge Transfer Promoting sustainable agriculture and livestock and patenting of new procedures derived from basic studies are crucial to preserve and expand cooperation with agricultural and biotechnology companies. Fruit of the development of these technologies have also been several spin-off started by researchers from the EEZ. Internationalization Collaboration and interaction with laboratories and universities in other countries, encouraging our staff to participate in international consortia, is a central hub of our activity. The EEZ regularly receives foreign visitors for research stays in our laboratories.
