Personal Information:
Vadym Mykolayovych Ovcharenko was born on February 17, 1973, in Lozova, Kharkiv region, Ukraine. He is married and has two children. Currently, he resides in Byshiv, Fastiv district, Kyiv region.
Education:
In 1990, he graduated from Secondary School No. 8 in Lozova, Kharkiv region.
1990–1996: Donetsk State University, Bachelor’s degree in Philology, specializing in Ukrainian Language and Literature.
1999–2002: Postgraduate studies at Sloviansk State Pedagogical University, earning a PhD in General Linguistics (specialization 10.02.15).
2011–2013: Donbas State Pedagogical University, qualification in English Philology and World Literature.
2022: National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, Master’s degree in Law.
Professional Experience:
1997–2015: Assistant Professor, Senior Lecturer, and Associate Professor at the Department of General and Slavic Linguistics at Donbas State Pedagogical University.
2016–2017: National Manager at Caritas Ukraine, overseeing psychological support projects for children in conflict-affected areas of Eastern Ukraine.
2018–2019: Project Coordinator for “Strengthening Social Cohesion” at Caritas Kramatorsk.
2018–2019: Local Expert for the implementation of integrated social services in Donetsk region (in cooperation with UNICEF and the International NGO "Partnership for Every Child").
2020: Lead Specialist at Sloviansk Educational and Scientific Institute, University of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine.
2020: Consultant at the Legal Clinic of Sloviansk Educational and Scientific Institute, working on a USAID project for financial sector transformation.
2021–2022: Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Pedagogy and Associate Professor at the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine.
2022–2024: Head of the Department of Extracurricular Education and Educational Work at the Directorate of General Secondary, Preschool, Inclusive, and Extracurricular Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
Since May 2024: Director of Byshiv Academic Lyceum.
Public and Volunteer Activities:
Vadym Ovcharenko has been an active member of the National Scout Organization of Ukraine "Plast" since 1998. He led the Donetsk regional branch of Plast from 2016 to 2019 and organized various training programs, outdoor camps, and youth projects in Eastern Ukraine. He has also participated in the production of documentary films about Ukrainian women serving in the military and has supported multiple educational and social initiatives.
Awards and Recognitions:
Honorary Diploma and Award from the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for his contributions to the development of the scouting movement in Eastern Ukraine and national-patriotic education.
Winner of the regional competition "Best Practices of Youth Centers of Donetsk Region 2021."
