iEncoder: Custom inductive encoders
About
EMC Gems S.r.l. designs, manufactures, and supplies inductive rotary and linear encoders that can be used as position, proximity, torque, and level sensors. Production can be customized to customer specifications or a component can be selected from the standard range. Inductive encoders enable digital twin models of rotating machines and, by also measuring shaft vibration, detect early faults in electromechanical components. The digital twin implemented on embedded systems (twin-on-chip) thus enables predictive maintenance.
Product advantages:
Compared to resolvers: cheaper, lighter, more accurate, less bulky.
Compared to optical encoders: cheaper, more robust in harsh environments (dust).
Compared to magnetic encoders: cheaper, more robust.
But the most important advantage over resolvers, optical or magnetic encoders is the possibility of customising them even for small series.
