Cheap and sustainable high power cells
About
NBL’s technology is based on paste electrodes that are injected into the cell in order to assembly it, this solution allows us to work with thick electrodes, something impossible with the thin solid electrodes used in current batteries, also our solution is compatible with ambient atmosphere, the combination of all these factors makes our solutions very cheap, scalable and recyclables. To recycle our cells just more paste needs to be injected into the cell to push outside the older, thus, cell is reusable.
We used hybrid materials based on nanocarbons for our electrodes, we avoid the use of any critical material like Li, Ni, Co or Mn, these materials provide high power and high cyclability our cells. We minimize it lower energy density (in comparison to Li-ion materials) with the use of thick electrodes, which allows us to increase the energy density at a cell level and get the same order of magnitude at a module level. That’s also plausible thanks to the fact that out solution is none flammable and have a very robust performance at very wide range of temperatures, thus, a simple module can be assembled. Bipolar electrode configuration is another point that helps to increase the energy density of our technology and simplify the module, this electrode configuration can be easily applied without extra cost thanks to the manufacturing method trough injection.
Our technology provides a 30%, aprox, of the energy density of Li-ion technology, but at 10% of the cost, it can be charge and discharge in less than 5 min, last more than 30.000 cycles, it do not get fire and it is easy to recycle.
Our solution has been designed to provide a simpler way to manufacture and recycle cells, to be easy and cheap to manufacture, thus, scale, and be able to be competitive regarding the county or region you manufacture it. Also, noncritical, and expensive materials are required, right now, all the materials used in out prototypes are provided by large industrial suppliers.
