About me
Jean-François Cornu is a professional English-to-French translator specialising in film subtitling and the translation of film and art books. He is also a film translation historian and published Le doublage et le sous-titrage: histoire et esthétique (‘Dubbing and subtitling: history and aesthetics’) (2014) and co-directed and co-authored The Translation of Films 1900s-1940s (2019) with Carol O’Sullivan. A member of ATAA, the French association of audiovisual translators, and ATLF, the French association of literary translators, he is also a founder member of ‘En chair et en os’, a collective of translators against the use of generative artificial intelligence in audiovisual and book translation.
