Catalysis and Intensification of CO2 Valorization and Ammonia Synthesis
About
Our research group, SPICE (Sustainable Process Intensification, Catalysis and Reaction Engineering Laboratory), focuses on catalysis and intensification of CO2 hydrogenation to DME and methane, reverse water-gas shift (RWGS), water-gas shift (WGS), CO2 reforming of glycerol and ethanol, and ammonia synthesis. We have novel lab-scale experimental infrastructure for synthesis and activity/stability testing of catalysts at precisely controlled flow, temperature and pressure conditions. Our computational research expertise allows us to use CFD modeling for simulating intensified reactors comprising membrane separation, heat transfer and catalytic reaction in the same volume to perform beyond thermodynamic limits. Starting from these novel reactors, we can synthesize and simulate intensified processes offering excellent efficiency and significantly reduced carbon footprints.
We also look into alternative techniques for increasing the positive impacts of inductive heating on catalytic reactions.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you are interested in collaborative projects. For further information, please have a look into the attached SPICE documentary and the website (http://www.react.boun.edu.tr/avci)..)
