About

Quality control and food safety are essential in agri-food systems. For this reason, we work on safer, more reliable, and non-invasive process control systems, applying different technologies. Our specific research lines are:

  • Ultrasound for non-destructive and non-invasive analysis of agri-food products and processes

  • Studies of the authenticity of beehive products

  • Quality studies of bee products

  • Application of advanced techniques for the automation of pollen analysis in honey

  • Evaluation of the environmental footprint and the sustainability of agri-food systems

  • Modeling and simulation of agri-food processes

  • Photonic technology for process control, quality, and online safety

  • Monitoring, control, and improvement of grape production and the production and aging of wines

  • Detection of pathogenic microorganisms in food

  • Microbiological quality control of food

  • Investigation of fungal contamination in food

  • Study of microbiological contamination in air and surfaces
