Multidisciplinary approaches to the characterization and usage of foods and alimentary components
About
The Plant Reproductive Biology and Advanced Imaging Laboratory (PReBAIL) group of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in Granada (Spain) is a multidisciplinary research group offering expertise in the determination of proximal composition/biochemical detailed analysis of foods derived from plant reproductive tissues (including pollen, gynoecium, fruits, seeds, and derived products like oils, extracts, pastes, concentrates, protein isolates...). Nutritional, potentially toxic and nutraceutical properties of such components can be assessed in our group by using both cellular and animal models using powerful approaches and broad panels of biomarkers. Further clinical assays can be designed as well. We also have a large expertise in determining allergenic composition and potential reactivity of foods and other allergenic sources.
The group has largely participated in clinical assays, transference actions, common I+D+i projects and is author of numerous patents currently under exploitation.
